Saguaro National Park, Tucson AZ

I was fortunate to find a privately owned RV spot on the west side of the Saguaro National Park in Tucson, Arizona. The saguaro is the largest cacti in the nation and found only in a small portion of the United States. They are protected by Saguaro National Park, to the east and west of the modern city of Tucson.

It’s an amazing hike through these towering cacti especially when you realize that many of these are 95-100 years old. It can take 70 years just to reach 6 1/2′ tall. Most of the saguaro here were 15′-20′ tall with a few reaching their full height of 40+ feet.

The owner of the land, Susan, is a incredibly nice woman who helped me feel right at home. From her property, it’s only a 1/2 mile to the entrance to BLM land and another 1/2 mile hike to the park border.
